Future Fossils: Space Invaders
This series imagines what might happen to the pixelated foes from the 1978 arcade classic Space Invaders after millions of years of fossilization.
The originals were made by taking a resin cast human skull and modifying it to fit the pixelated silhouette of the invaders, with additional bones and structures sculpted by hand. Once the invaders were complete, they were encased in a concrete mixture that was then chipped away much like one would chip away rock to uncover a fossil. The fossils were molding in silicone then cast with resin and ceramic fillers to make a light-weight rock-like casting that could be hung from the wall.
